I have had my fair share of good and bad bosses. The best part is when the boss thinks that they never make a mistake - well guess what - thinking that you never make a mistake is a really big mistake. Another fault that I dread is the micro manager - you know that type - they are scared to death that someone might realize that they are not needed. How about the boss that has experienced every possible situation that may come your way - their situation is always more drastic, more important, more severe - minimizing your situation. Well guess what I really do not care what happened to you. The manager that does not listen is as useless as the pair of shoes that you needed last season. You might wear them a couple of times, however when a better pair comes along you put the shoes in the donation box and do not look back. A confident, self assured person does not need to belittle others to be important, nor do they need to tell everyone how great they are - if you are truly great - others will know. Now sit back and let others become successful. A truly great boss is so secure in their position that they welcome progress from their team. How awesome is it to see your staff progress.
