CRIMINAL LIKE ANY OTHER
Simple enough here folks. Dog fighting is illegal in the state where Michael Vick was promoting it. Therefore, by definition that makes him a criminal for the mere fact that he was convicted of the crime. That much is clear. However, what is more disturbing to me in this case is the fact that Vick has such a low moral character that he emphatically and consistently lied when confronted about his involvement. He would have done everything in his power to avoid the responsibility, and, more particularly, the consequences of his actions.
Furthermore, to willingly and dispassionately strangle, electrocute, or drown ANY living being instantly puts a person in a category of being deranged and certifiable. Michael Vick cannot even make the age-old claim that he had no knowledge of the specifics of the operations of the racket he was funding. He himself was a knowing and willing participant. In addition, his after-the-fact apologies and showing of remorse come off as completely insincere at best. In my opinion, it was only a matter of time before Vick moved on to bigger and more notorious crimes.
Hopefully, his fall from grace and subsequent incarceration will be a wake-up call for all other pampered athletes out there that they are not above the system, existing in some parallel universe where they can essentially do whatever they feel like without repercussion. Michael Vick was a good football player, one of my favorites in fact, but now all I can think of him as is a deranged, dishonest, and insincere individual in need of some serious help.
