Growing up I watched as my best friend, Laura, was my "hero". She was outgoing without being the center of attention, she was popular without being snobby or having to wear make-up, she was skinny and ate whatever she wanted. She was my best friend who knew of all the good parties and never had a curfew. She went off to college, graduated, came back home, and met a man named Chuck at work. They fell in love, and on her 21st birthday she got pregnant. Despite speculation of being too young and her partying past, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with her boyfriend at her side. They married a year later, and just celebrated their one year anniversary in July 2007, and gave birth to their second daughter one month later. Laura is still my "hero", but now it is because she faced adversity and ran away from her immaturity and fell into the arms of a loving man and embraced her new family. She is an amazing mom who loves chasing her daughters around, and stopping working to take care of them full time. She may have changed because she had to, but she loves her family because she wants to.
