In God's eyes we are His children. In this respect we look at our own children, we want the best for them. It's the same with God, He wants the best for us. When we tell our children simple things like don't go into the street, they think we are holding them back. When really we are trying to save their life. The same with God and the things He tells us to do in His word, we think He is sometimes holding us back. It's just the opposite He is trying to save us from ourselves and in the end we will have eternal life.
If we would recognize who we really are in God's eyes. If we could understand all the plans He has for us and all He has given us, we would be a totally different person. I believe every person in the Bible never reached the level that God planned for them and some of them walked right with Him. Jesus said, "Greater things will you do than I did, because I go to the Father." I don't see much of that going on and it's not because of Him, it's us. We have not reached our potential that God expects of us. When I think about God's power and the potential He has given us, I think of Joel Osteen, a well know Houston Texas, preacher, that has tapped into God's power. He was very young and didn't want the job his dad left for him when he died, but you know the rest of that story. Joel has had to overcome some big obsticles in his life too, but he used his faith in God's power to overcome them. We need to recognize who we are in the eyes of God, just as Joel did.
When God looks at us, He sees Jesus. With that in mind, we are precious in the sight of God. So precious, that the third chapter of John tells us, "God sent His only begotten son to shed His blood and die on the cross to take away all our sins and make us perfect in His sight." We should trust in Him, after all He's done for us, that's the least we can do for Him. Everyone has been given a measure of faith by God, it's what you do with that level that counts. To raise that level of faith, comes by hearing the word of God. We need to raise our level of faith to please Him.
When we trust Him as our Savior, we have everything we need in this life and in the life to come. Because He found us precious in His sight and He looks at us as His children. We need to have a new look at who we are in the eyes of God and we will find out things He wants us to know about ourselves, we never could have imagined. These are good things, not bad, He wants us to be an overcomer, in every area of our life. I don't think many people really know who they are in Jesus Christ, or we would see more victory in many Christian lives. We are children of the most high God. We can lose everything and still have Jesus, but if we lose Him we have nothing!
