Why it is important to remember the 9/11 terrorism attacks

"Chris .... get up! The World Trade Center just collapsed!" The words my wife spoke to me that morning still ring clear in my mind. A mix of disbelief, dread and then pure rage coursed through me. We were attacked by an enemy many thought was impotent and rag-tag at best. When my wife asked who it could have been, the only name that came to my mind was Osama bin Laden. I had heard the name myself only in passing references. It was believed he was tied to the first bombing there and that's all I knew. Now the "man" was no longer to be seen as impotent. The name continues to haunt the minds of many who wonder what will happen next.

That is the main issue behind remembering the 9/11 attacks. What will be next? While bin Laden is in hiding, he and his pawns of Satan are constantly brewing more ways to maim and destroy as many innocents as possible. We hear about "dirty bombs" and "pocket nukes," in the hands of terrorists. We are told the next attack is not a matter of if but when. Except that many are choosing to forget. They are assuming our enemy is like us.

Every year that passes seems to dull the memory enough to lull the country into complacency. However, be assured our enemy is NOT like us. While 9/11 appears to many a fading piece of tragic history, Osama bin Laden and those who model themselves after him are keeping the memory fresh as their first major victory.

Those who forget the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat it. Japanese leaders, shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, wondered if they had awakened a "sleeping dragon." How right they were. For at that time, none were going to stand for such a deed to be committed on American soil. It was then this country resolved to fight that war until its victorious end.

We are in a war America! If we do not have the same resolve for victory as our ancestors, we can expect the result experienced by Europe before we entered WWII. We will be torn asunder by those who mean to destroy us. Forget 9/11? God forbid! September 11 should be a date that we constantly keep before us in order to forge our will to win. If we do not, then indeed it will be the end of the world as we know it.
