Why it is important to remember the 9/11 terrorism attacks

We must never forget! People always ask do you remember where you were on 9/11? I will never forget, I had dropped my children off at school and was just returning from the market, as I was pulling in to my driveway I had my radio station on a station that interrupted their station announcement to tell about the plane that went into the first tower! I remember saying how dare they make a joke like that up! I was appalled and I changed the station to 1010Wins news station, and I heard the news there, I was frozen in my car! I went into the house turned the television on, and I couldn't believe my eyes! I knew from that precise moment that this was related to terrorism some how! I just knew, since the towers were hit before from below! I remember that day just feeling frozen, stunned! This could not be happening in our New York City! I remember seeing the split screen on the television as we were being shown, the other places being hit simultaneously! I immediately called my children's school to find out how they were! I remember speaking to the Principal a good friend of our family! I said Brother Raymond I need to pick up my children, he assured me that they were in the safest place they could be! I said I need to be with them, I'm going over to get them! My husband works on 34th St. U.S? Postal Service. I called and called and no answer, I kept thinking what's wrong why won't anyone pick up! Finally some time later that day my husband was able to contact us! He said the trains weren't running, and people we're all going to walk toward the bridge and walk home on the bridge! I remember going to meet him when they came off the bridge in the Bronx. There I was with my children, along with hundreds of other people waiting for their loved ones and friends waiting across the street from the bridge. The crowd of people coming off the bridge covered in a white power all over their bodies was something we will never forget! The crowd was huge but there was silence, nothing but silence and confusion as they came off the bridge that day! We waited for hours traffic was at a stand still! The scene was like something from the "Twilight Zone". We lost fire fighters and friends on that day! So we will never forget! Those people never knew what was coming! My son is now 10 years old, and he feels that this day should be remembered in the same aspect as we would a Holiday on the calendar! The pain is real and alive no matter how much time passes. It's important to remember 9/11 because on that infamous day we not only lost loved ones and friends but we also lost hero's that day, let's never forget!
