Why it is important to remember the 9/11 terrorism attacks

Bravery, faith and innocence are to be honored on 9/11. America is a diverse and strong nation capable of almost anything we set our minds to. When we were attack by terrorist on that sunny fall day it showed what is underneath the surface of America. The firefighters, police, media and citizens all found the courage together to face a horrific attack, the second one in our history, the first being Pearl Harbor. We arose to the challenge as a nation of people who love their country and are committed to our ideals. Ideals which lead the world.

To the firefighters who hurried onto the scene, who went into the buildings, rushing up stairs after stairs after stairs. Knowing all the while this could be their last hours and for too many it was. They were Americans fighting to save their fellow humans from a shocking blow. The police, who ran to the scene prepared to defend our laws and hence our freedom. The doctors and nurses who prepared to face any conditions to help the survivors of the attack. The citizens who did not panic or run. They stayed out of the way, and helped when needed to fill in, feed, and just plain love our first responders.

The people who went to work on that fateful day in the worlds greatest nation trusting the ideals of a free country. To the ones who died that day, 9/11, they are to be remembered for their faith and diligence. For they were everyone of us who went to work, shopping, and sightseeing in one of our greatest cities. They died for being free and acting like free people. The freedom of choice and to live under the flag of freedom is one we all participate in. The attack that day was an attack on every single American and freedom loving person on earth.

The citizens in flight 93, who knew what was going on and sacrificed their selves to protect others who might have been murdered if not for their bravery. The bravery of the everyday, run-of-the-mill, apple pie, burger eating, tv watching, and freedom loving citizens of the United States was put to the test. They took the plane from the enemy, and saved the lives of others, in spite of knowing they were going to die. These acts are what has defeated the terrorist. The terrorist attacked a country that was protected by freedom loving Americans. The most powerful force in the history of civilization. We as citizens walk the talk!

These acts are to be honored and remembered. They are not acts of duty or rules. These acts are from the heart, from the deep love of liberty and citizenship. These people were not trained soldiers, or filled with fervor. These acts were done by the citizens of the United States of America on their way to work and play. These acts of bravery and sacrifice as shown our enemies what it means to have faith in God and Country. What it means to live their lives in a democracy of the people, by the people and for the people. Well the people showed their true colors. RED, WHITE, and BLUE.
