Why it is important to remember the 9/11 terrorism attacks

On September the 11th 2001 war was declared on America. It is important to remember the attacks of the terrorists on this day, the heroism of the rescuers and others involved in the consequences, and that it could all happen again. Before that horrible day, Americans in general didn't give a thought to the strength and power of their nation. It was unmistakably obvious, we felt. Bin Laden stated as a goal that he wanted to destroy the U.S., to effect our economy, and to bring about a holy jihad, or war, against the people of the United States. We can not forget that the attack signaled the beginning and it is far from over now.

No matter your politics or religious beliefs, we are in pretty deep now. Every step we take is of major importance to not only us but the world at large. It is no time to be hasty, to say or do things that stir up more hate and spite from the countries we have harmed or had animosity for in the past.
In light of the upcoming presidential election, the aftermath of the September 11th should be foremost on our mind. The dust filled streets and bleeding people running for their lives. Firefighters dying to try and save people who weren't to be saved on that fateful day. The way we pulled together as a nation shortly after, collectively hoping for the long survival of a nation that has given so many hope and high quality lives. The 2008 election shouldn't be about race or sex or even mistakes. It should be about which candidate is the best to lead us forward in a time of war and trouble. We cannot forget that war was declared on 9/11 in 2001 and that we cannot just say that we quit. War is commonly ended in only three ways: the sides come together to find ways to appease their anger, one side is annihilated by the other, or both sides are worn down and then defeated later by some other enemy.
