Why many Adsense sites don't earn money

Struggling to make Adsense work for you? Here's the most important things to consider when reviewing your Adsense strategy to maximize the potential from your web site.

1)Keywords that work
Google sell some keywords for more money than others. Advertisers know that people visiting your digital camera review page are more likely to buy a digital camera than people visiting your poodle pampering page, and will therefore bid a higher rate to be seen there. If your pages target more desirable keywords, you'll get paid more for every click the ads receive.

2)Getting the right keywords for your content
The ads that Google display on your site are determined by the content that surrounds them. Therefore to get relevant ads, make sure your content is well presented and has plenty of keyword penetration for your target terms and you'll get the ads you want.

3)Volume matters
If you want to make any significant money from Adsense you'll need to be showing the ads to lots and lots of visitors.

4)Quality matters
Even if you've got a million people hitting your site every day, they're only worth anything if they stick around long enough to read the ads and hopefully find one interesting enough to click on, so when you're thinking about increasing visitor numbers, don't forget that you need them to do more than just arrive to hit the back button.

5)Displaying the Ads
If you want visitors to read and hopefully click on the ads you've got to put them in the right place on the page. There are several options that work well depending on the style of your pages so read Google's own layout tips and improve your placement.

Consider all five of these tips and you should be able to convert a failing Adsense program to a winning one with a little time and effort. Remember though, there's a fair bit of work here and every point here will improve your program to some extent so rather than rushing in and doing everything at once, work through them systematically. This should bring you the best rewards.
