THE AUM IN HINDUISM
The sound of Aum should go oh ohoh. It should be spaced out and dragged on for the correct affect to sound. Its all a vibration.
When you start at (oh) and drag it slowly you will feel a vibration in the pit of the stomach and all the inner linings of the abdominal cavity starts vibrating. Thus, giving the inner parts of the stomach an exercise of sorts. So, everything in the stomach is pushed around and loosens to create an easier passage through the intestines and out of the body.
Its like when you have something lodged in the throat we sort of cough to get the things stuck to the food tube to dislodge. Also, we try to say erh. To clear the throat of whatever is stuck. It can be done only due to the force vibration in the throat by the person. The section below the throat is the thorax cavity where the heart and lungs are situated. When we utter the ooh oohooh the whole of the thorax vibrates and creates a tingling sensation.
Then we come to U oue.oue.oue. When the whole of the mouth area or cavity starts vibrating, the mouth and lips start vibrating too to the moustache area and to the nose and cheeks area below the eyes.
At last we come to the M. um.um..um. When we close the mouth the sound of Um lingers on in the mouth and goes to the roof of the mouth where the whole of the area above the mouth starts vibrating.
From the very throat area inside, to the moustache area, to the sides of the eyes, the temple, the forehead, last of all to the cranium or the top of the skull area all start vibrating. Even to the extend of the ears and nostrils start vibrating. The lips outside start tingling and also the area below the lips (the chin).
If we keep the teeth a bit close together, the teeth will sound to the tone um ..um.umm vibration.
Thus Aum is a complete vibration of the human body from the abdomen to the thorax, to the throat, face and ending at the top or tip of the head. A complete vibration of this sound is produced. This vibration is an un struck sound. We have to note that this vibration is created by itself and no striking of any two anything to produce this effect. So this is the power of the Aum symbol of vibration. It is the same sound produced by the flapping of the wings of the humming bird and a mosquito.
