here I will give one word of direction: sadly many independent schools of spiritual education provide little of any outreach into underserved communities, hospitals, elder care facilities or prisons. If we truly are going to make it through a paradigm shift all of these areas will need to be addressed. Most major funding sources have built in criteria which requires providing care for the underserved. However, it is curious in independent self-help spiritual learning communities and schools very few reach out and welcome populations such as youth, homeless, financially burdened or minorities. Instead what we currently have are exclusive, expensive, spa like atmospheres that do not have diverse composition of large sections of our population. In addition some of the basis of independent spirituality learning centers is that fundamentally they are geared to " a rotating door" of patrons. In the deeper realms spiritual teaching, education and functioning, this film of "group process" left over from purely psychological formats needs changed. Not all business, medical or even spiritual direction formats will be helpful in this new dimension. Instead we will need more spiritual congruency, clarity of vocation and intent and allow ourselves to not be directed by old paradigms of business and "group process". As you can see, this new paradigm will require teachers with dedication to teaching and learning and comfortable with their own spirituality and beliefs.
