300 is an epic film! I watched it at the cinema and was awestruck by the brutality and vidvidness of the images on screen.
Historically it is quite correct despite the visual ludicrously, there was a King, Leonidas, and it is quite possible he took 300 men to make a stand against the Persian King Xerxes. At the time of Leonidas the Royal Guard was 300-strong therefore it is quite plausible that he could take his personal troops to Thermopylae and make a heroic stand. According to Herodotus King Leonidas was joined 700 Thespians, who later left to leave the Spartans to die.
Moving on to the visuals and sound they were truly fanstastic. The way soldiers would slow then speed up as they fought. The intimidating Immortals and Uber-Immortal, the giant rhino-beast. The music was in the right places making the scenes even more spectacular.
The already infamous "THIS IS SPARTA" is an example of this great production. It is scenes like that that make the film stand out from all the other epic movies: Troy, Gladiator and King Arthur.
Congratulations to Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad (not forgetting Frank Miller) for the fantastic screenplay of King Leonidas.
I'll conclude by telling you to go and get this film, its truly EPIC!
