Poetry: Sense experience

That Old Dirt Road*

Every once in a lifetime
You find some one special
They penetrate the spectrum's of the lines
That border your heart
You are left empty handed
God, wishing for another day
In which you can somehow explain
Who you are
What you mean
Without making a complete fool of yourself
I don't know about wishes
For I've never had faith on one being granted
But I don't want a cheap imitation of a man
I want complete and total understanding
I pondered to myself about closing the door
To save my heart and my integrity
But I was medicinally stoned at dawn
And the sun, I finally did see
Maybe it's a farce, a falsehood of hopes
Brought about by good dope
I don't know
But I think I feel so good about who I am
And this is a surprise, so unplanned
There's a smile on my face and I'm responsible
For I have given faster and farther than my roads would have led me
If I had taken precaution
Though I am worn, mentally fatigued with physical exhaustion
The light that shines in the window is such a beautiful array
I just want to take a long walk on that old dirt road today
