It is not an option to refuse to acknowledge that racism and prejudice exist in today's society. Some would like to bury their heads in the sand and say that there is no racism or prejudice in today's society. But that is incorrect.

There are all white country clubs in America. Why? There are racism and prejudice in today's society. There are people who are so ignorant and pitiful that they believe the color of one's skin should be the determining factor of that person's intellect. And they are so consumed by their desire to have something that makes them better than another person, they deny all logic and reason to hold on to prejudicial ideals.

On the other hand, there are people who would argue that the racism and prejudice they experience allows them to play the part of the victim. This is incorrect also. Yes, it is true that racism and prejudice is not right or fair, but those who have experienced it must rise above it to prove that they are not as ignorant as those who tried to suppress us. If they display those stereotypical minority traits, those stereotypes are further emphasized.
