*Student Pizza*
This is a low cost recipe I developed while studying at university.
Almost eveyone I know loves pizza but there is no reason to go spending 3 for a frozen pizza in a box from the supermarket, especially when you are trying to live off a student loan and every penny counts.
All you need is a loaf of white bread, tomato puree, mature cheddar cheese, and a jar of mixed herbs.
Take a slice of bread and spread tomato puree over it. Next grate some cheese over the top and sprinkle a pinch of mixed herbs over. Put it under the grill until the cheese has melted and voila you have a small pizza ready to eat in under 10 minutes.
this may sound like a silly recipe but it is surprisingly tasty. Obviously 1 slice of student pizza will not be enough to fill you up so you just make as many as you need. You can add toppings the same as a regular pizza - ham, peppers, onion, chicken, tuna, sweetcorn can all be bought cheaply from the supermarket and used as toppings, though if you want to use any uncooked meat such as bacon as a topping I would strongly suggest cooking it separately before putting it on your pizza since it will not cook properly in a couple of minutes under a grill.
The important thing to remember here is cost. Economy loaf of bread - 30p, tube of tomato puree - 70p, block of cheese - 2, jar of herbs - 1, makes a grand total of 4 or thereabouts and that should make you around 20 pizzas.
Trust me, you'll never go to pizza hut again.
