Fertility Issues

Increasing your chances of pregnancy

If someone would have told me ten years ago that I would be a parent today, I believe I would have laughed out loud into there face. After eleven "specialist" I had gotten used to the idea that being a mother was not in my future. Boy was I wrong. I hope that by writing this I can touch one woman with my story and give them some kind of hope.
I was diagnosed with endiometriosis when I was 17 years old. It was caused from severe sexual abuse at a very young age, which in turn made scar tissue wrap around my reproductive organs. Every "specialist" that I went to told me that it was hopeless. After fertility drugs, hormone injections, 5 miscarriages, and so many sleepless nights I found one that gave me some small sense of hope. It was as he put it "a last resort" try.

It was a simple outpatient surgery and my last hope. In January of 1998 I went through a six hour surgery, where he burnt my scar tissue out. He told me to start trying as soon as possible. My husband and I started trying one week after my surgery, taking my temperature, placing a pillow under my hips, and every 48 hours just to help in the possibilities.
In February we moved from Indiana to Giorgia and the baby project was put on the back burner for the move. Though we were still have unprotected intercourse, it was not with the temperature and the pillows and the 48 hours, just normal lovemaking between a couple. We decided that we would take a break to ease stress during the move. For stress does not help in the baby-making department, and moving is stressful enough on a relationship.
By the middle of March things were finally settling back into a somewhat normal routine. Though my husband and I had not really even brought up the baby project, we just continued life as normal. My husband with a new job and myself preparing to return to college. I think after five years of daily worries, and what ifs we just needed a small break.
For two months I did not keep track of our sexual habits, my monthly flow, and my temperature. Then in April, I started to notice little changes. My breast were sore, I felt nauseated when smelling certain Oder's, and uh-oh when was my last menstrual?
On April 30, 1998 I awoke early went into the restroom to take a pregnancy test. I had not told my husband of my thoughts the whole week before I worked up the courage to take the test for fear that I would disappoint him. Sitting there waiting the two minutes, was like waiting for hours. Then I picked it up and looked.
Shock, fear, anxiety, and excitement all rushed through me like a tidal wave. Rushing out of the bathroom and to my bedroom I stared at my husband sitting on the edge of the bed, speechless I just handed him the test. His eyes got large and I remember he cried, never said a word just cried. The impossible at that very moment had become the possible.
On December 22, 1998 we became parents of a beautiful baby boy. All of the trials and the pain that we had went through, every sleepless night, every tear that fell down my cheeks when the "specialist" said it would not, could not happen, he was worth it all. Thinking back on it, I wish that they could see him now, then maybe they would be less apt to tell women that come to them for hope, that it is hopeless.
