A long time ago I got into an argument with my sister. I don't remember the exact argument, but I remember she got upset because I said fagot. It really offended her and we got into a little argument.
Looking back I feel like a real jerk. I was incredibly insensitive. The weird thing is that I don't even have any hatred for homosexual. I shouldn't have spoken so negatively. I didn't take anyone's feeling into consideration as I spoke.
I think a lot of the negativity I was feeling toward homosexuals at that time was fueled by the church I was attending at the time. They didn't outright say they hated homosexuals, but the aggressively taught against homosexuality.
I recently saw a movie and there were church people holding signs that read "Fags die, God laughs" and "HIV is that answer for fags". They think that they are going to Heaven! These "Church" people must have forgotten the Bible says to love your neighbors as yourself. I don't know how they could consider that loving. I don't think they would say those things to their children. Actually, they are so full of hate they probably would!
As Christians, we are to love everyone equally. We need to love the liar, gossiper, murderer, thief, AND homosexual. I have never seen that much hate from a Christian aimed toward someone that cheats on their spouse. No sin is greater than another. We need to love our homosexual brothers and sisters. Share with them the Gospel. Whichever choice they make we need to continue loving them and lead by example. If we are spewing hateful messages towards homosexuals, why should we expect them to want to listen to us. How are they going to know the love of God if we Christians are not loving them. We have to look beyond their sin and see the person God created, the person that Jesus loved so much He died on the cross for.
