Naming one's car is called (Anthropomorhism) People have named their horses, and plows. Pilots have named planes. It is only natural that we name our cars. Naming a car relieves the anxiety and stress of driving. A car is an inanimate object, by bonding and developing a relationship with our car we can gain a sense of control over that object. A car is also an extension of our personality. Males tend to be masculine when choosing the size and color of their cars, while women depend on their cars and tend to be more feminine. People will often name their cars by how they perform such as "Ole reliable."and "Clunker."
In addition to naming cars, many interesting events take place in cars. A recent study showed that:
90% sing in their cars
60% hold conversations with their cars
50% have kissed or made-out in their cars
27% have made love in their cars
27% give their cars pet names
20% hold meetings in their cars
For others the connection goes even deeper. The survey showed that some owners included or experienced some of life's most memorable moments in their car.
38% car was part of their wedding
25% told they were loved for the first time
10% got engaged in their car
9% conceived a child in their car
4% had a baby in their car
4% been named after a car

Our cars are about to take on more of a life of their own by being able to talk back to us. Soon Honda will begin installing voice recognition devices that will speak to us in a female voice. The voice will give us driving directions and regulate our air conditioning. We will be able to communicate her to make phone calls and she will remind us when it is time to get our oil changed. She will probably even know our names.
