Job Interviews

Tips for closing a job interview

Summing up the Interview Process
The general belief among hiring professionals is that a candidate is either mentally HIRED or NOT in the first ten minutes of the conversation! The interviewer spends the remainder of the interview giving himself or herself a rationale for the already made decision.

Having a single job objective is essential to your initial sales pitch because you can always sell one thing at a time better than several things. In the sales pitch, place the main emphasis on your desire to fit into a job where you can make

the best use of your talents as this is to the best advantage of both parties.

Remember:
1. You only learn when you listen. The more the interviewer talks, the more they tell
about the problems the company faces. Remember that your first objective is to learn if
the job you are applying for is the job you want.
2. Answers all questions directly and briefly. You will save time but your brevity can
throw the burden of conversation back on the interviewer. The more he or she talks, the
better prepared you are.
3. Take your cues from the interviewer. As the interviewer talks, the important areas of
interest will become apparent. That single job objective may have to be revised as the
interview progresses.
4. Ask short, pertinent and informed questions. While interviewer is answering, be
ready to follow up by saying something appropriate about your accomplishments and
experience.
5. Try to feel that you and the interviewer are on the same side.
6. Meet any objection immediately and directly, but do not contradict add facts.
7. Answer thoughtfully and deliberately but not slowly.
8. Leave salary discussions until the job responsibilities are clear.
9. Leave the interview promptly when it is over.

Above all, be prepared to answer the following questions:
What kind of relationship should exist between this position and superiors?
Do you think you are overqualified (underqualified) for this position?
Do you see this position growing in importance?

Questions asked about your personal and professional life
Why are you applying for to work at this company? How do we fit in with your personal goals?
What was the last book that you read? Movie you saw?
What are you doing to reach your goals?
What career options do you think you have at this point in your life
