Having a good education is just the key to get into the organisation of your choice. However, how fast or how high you can climb the coporate ladder depends not just on your education but other factors as well. The way you handle people and the way you present yourself will determing how high you can go.

Having good results just shows that you have the ability to study well and can cope with exams and projects well. However, in the real world, other soft skills are very important as well. You will need to be tactful in dealing with people, be able to influence others, as well as manage people.

Having a good education just means that given the right environment and help, you'll be able to succeed. Having a good education should in things that are not taught in the textbooks, the experience of living in another country should be included in the definition of good education. Only when you are on an exchange program, can you really learn more and open your eyes.

Having a good degree also gives the organization an assurance that you can perform. Thus, enabling you to get into the organization. All else being equal, the person with a better degree will be able to get a better job.
