Great rainy day activities to do with your children

or tape. Punch a hole in the character you made and pull a piece of string through. Attach it to one of the arms of the X. Continue like this, adding characters until the mobile looks full and interesting.
For your older children they may like to use some old CD's, beads, shells or feathers to create a mobile for their room.

Stickers.
Get some cheap labels and let your budding artists create their own stickers. Older children may like to add beads, glitter etc to their masterpieces.

Guess what bag
Fill an old pillowcase with small unbreakable objects (hairbrush, comb, teddy, plastic cup) and ask your child to put their hand in and pick up one object and guess what it is. They can be blindfolded if they wish or tie the end with an elastic band so they can't see into the bag. If they are able, reverse the role and let them fill the bag and you have to guess what is in there.

Photo Albums:
Children like nothing better than looking through their old photos. You could provide each of them with a smaller album/scrap book, from which they can make their own album. They can use some of their baby photos as the beginning of a life line and chart their achievements. They can add to this album as they get older. This is a great on- going project, that can be used at anytime. Older children may use this to chart their family tree, which becomes a piece of family history in itself and also gets older members involved.

Hopefully you are well armed now to get through the wettest of days. Remember after a long day of fun and games there is nothing nicer than picking a good family movie and snuggling up together. Bring on the hot chocolate and marshmallows.
