It is undeniable that Chinese are superstitious. But some of the superstitions have underlying reasons behind them.
Chinese believe that you shouldn't cut your fingernails at night, if not you'll see a spirit. This might be because in the olden days, people use candle lights or oil lamps as a source of light. If you cut your nails at night, you might hurt yourself.
Chinese also believe that you shouldn't hang your laundry out in the open at night as evil spirits will attach themselves to your cloths and into your house when you take in the cloths. The reason behind this is there will be mist during the night which will result in the cloths being damp in the morning.
You shouldn't have a house that situated in a T-junction. A possible reason is it's dangerous as there is a high possibility a car can come crashing into your house. The headlights of car passing can also be reflected into the house.
What ever the superstition might be, whether you believe it or not, it is still better to avoid doing these intentionally.
