Christian understanding of righteousness

Christian righteousness has nothing to do with how good or bad people behave and every thing to do with the thoughts and behaviors of God. God gave us His righteousness. It pleased Him to think up and execute a plan to give righteousness to the human race based on belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and submission of human life to God. God is a multiple of one as in 1 X 1 X 1 = 1 (God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit). " [Righteousness, standing acceptable to God] will be granted and credited to us also who believe in (trust in, adhere to, and rely on) God, Who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead," says Romans 4:24 (Amplified Bible). God had to give us the gift of righteousness because we are completely unable to earn righteousness. Psalm 14:2-3 (Amplified Bible) says, "The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any who understood, dealt wisely, and sought after God, inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him [of vital necessity]. They are all gone aside, they have all together become filthy; there is none that does good or right, no, not one."

Once you submit your life to God, no one can take your righteousness away. God's gift of righteousness is a gift of His love for us. Romans 8:39 (Amplified Bible) says, "Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Christians stumble and fall, but God still loves us and will lift us up through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Christian righteousness has to do with God's pleasure in deciding to choose His children. Romans 9:10-12 (Amplified Bible) says, "And not only that, but this too: Rebecca conceived [two sons under exactly the same circumstances] by our forefather Isaac, and the children were yet unborn and had so far done nothing either good or evil. Even so, in order further to carry out God's purpose of selection (election, choice), which depends not on works or what men can do, but on Him Who calls [them], It was said to her that the elder [son] should serve the younger son." God favored Jacob over Esau because it was His pleasure to do so. God gives Christians righteousness because it is His pleasure to do so.

Rejoice that righteousness is not based on human behavior. God is perfectly good. Human beings cannot be perfectly good. God considers many people righteous who perhaps many human beings would not consider righteous. God considered Lot to be
