One of the relatively unknown dog products under fifty dollars on the market today might become a little more well known as time goes on. In these times of global warming, pet dogs as well as humans are vulnerable to rising sea and river levels and freak weather events such as floods and unusual cyclones and storms. Some dog owners are also aware of the threat of quakes and hurricanes and are investing in survival kits for their dogs. Dog survival kits retail at anything from fifty dollars and up, depending on the degree of luxury and quality they require for their pet dog and loyal companion. The last thing any pet owner wants is to flee their home in relative safety, but still be worrying about their faithful pet dog who may be still locked up in the house amid rising water levels. 'Why not prepare the dog in the same way as all the other members of the family? ' they think.

The high-end luxury or multi-event survival kits for dogs contain emergency supplies for up to two pets. These kits are custom made and contain high quality supplies for preparing pets for an emergency. These kits usually come well equipped with water and food rations,first-aid kit for accidents, sanitation, lighting and even a temporary shelter.

Some kits contain dog food pouches which are vacuum sealed and have a long shelf life and many have bowls which are collapsible so they take up less space. Other essential items include thermal blankets and lightsticks. In times of disaster, water supplies cannot be relied upon to be pure, so water purification tablets are a must for any thirsty dog.

Owners in a panic may not have time to think of grabbing the dog leash off the hook, so a spare one is packed into most of these dog survival kits. Disposal bags will aid sanitation in an emergency and are a useful dog accessory in most circumstances.

One of the first tasks for any pet owner in an emergency is to secure his family and establish a place of safety for his loved ones and pets. He may not have time to watch Rover at this moment, so a long rope is a good idea to temporarily secure him from running off in fear and panic. For those lucky enough not to have to actually leave the house, window stickers can be used to alert emergency services that there are pets at the residence.

Dog survival kits are relatively scarcely used currently, but in times of emergency they may come in real handy, and at under eighty dollars might well be worth it.
