Green Acres was created by Jay Sommers. Originally, Don Ameche and Martha Hyer were originally chosen to play Oliver and Lisa, but Martha Hyer wanted more money, and therefore, the deal fell through. (Eva Gabor's husband at the time, Richard Brown, became a vice president for Filmways, the company that produced Green Acres.)
