I do feel a wedding favor can be a nice gift for your guests but I am not writing this essay to pitch a certain product. I am writing as a bride who is a huge do-it-yourself person.

When planning my wedding anything and everything I could do myself I did. I wanted the day to reflect who my future husband and I are and we are DIYers who notice all the details. We are also very close to our families. That is why we came up with something to include everyone.

We had been to plenty of weddings and gotten lots of wedding favors that got stuck in a box somewhere till we could hardly remember whose wedding it was from and pitched it. I wanted people to leave our wedding with something that would remind them of the day and that they would truly want to keep and use forever.

We had everyone in our wedding party and everyone in each of our families pick their favorite song from the 50's, 60's or 70's ... and we put together a compilation CD. The music on the CD was fantastic, everyone picked great songs that went well together. I then found a company online that could reproduce my CD as well as print right on the CD a design I came up with. We purchased great CD holders and printed our own stickers and inserts and voila we had a fantastic wedding favor that cost us under $2 each. We then gave the DJ a copy of the CD and asked him to play the songs throughout the night ... that way when people listened to their party favor they would remember the night.

4 years later I still have people tell me they listen to that CD all the time. Several people told me they have it in their shower CD player and listen to it daily while getting ready. Then there are others that still have it in their car for long drives. I've never received a wedding favor that 4 years later I am still using.

It was an item that was completely a reflection of my husband and myself as well as our now merged families and closest friends. I couldn't think of a better way to remind everyone who came to our wedding what a fantastic day it truly was.
