Poetry: Take a break

A Break

I am about to finish a job
A writing job
It has taken me quite a time to complete
It had been hanging on for days

I always kept postponing it
Hoping to start after sometime
Tomorrow kept stretching farther and farther away
Until one day.

I decided to have a go at it
With a firm mind I picked up a pen
And my writing pad
And started the work on it

It was okay for a start
I had got it going
Now was the task of sticking till the end
And completing it

There were topics and sub topics
Asking for research which I sat through
I found myself get up
After short periods bored and tired

After short hurried breaks
I would be back
Forcing myself on the job
Some how I got the going

It is nearing completion
And anticipating it
I can feel a child's pleasure
Of having completed the task

Completed reasonably well
With a sense of relief
Of having overcome
And earned a well deserved break

    ZONED OUT

    Spring cleanup elicits a groan,
As our mother gives each a yard zone.
    She passes out rakes,
    Mid our belly-aches,
    Then
