Poetry: The life we leave behind

Life Left Behind

He touches her face as he pulls back her veil
Her blue eyes shine back at him, with tears,
She grasps his hands within her own.
A split second
A life time

She turns to her handsome beau
At that alter, she takes her steps
He nods, mostly to himself
Walking over to his beaming wife
His baby
Grown up

His mind time travels,
Remembering his blonde locked babe
The cautious steps she took
Her in bows and braids at the park
Holidays where Santa ruled
Long passed
Tender memories

Their lives have changed
She starts her journey again
He is a relic of her past now
Her husband is her future
A smile creeps to his face
His job well done
His pride, Her

A life change with rings
A life change with vows and veils
Daughter becoming a woman
Daughter coming into her self, her OWN life
A life left behind for another
A father letting go
Letting go
Lets go
