The war on terror: A different enemy, a new reality

The realisation of tragedy

We come once again to an anniversary of an occurrence which shook the world. Those who are left behind go through the rituals of grief and remembrance for not only those who were lost when the two towers fell ,but also for the shock of awakening which flows from the realisation that life as we know it can be changed in an instant.

Yet mass destruction and loss happens around the world almost daily in the form of earthquakes ,floods , drought and starvation.

Why is it that an act of terrorism grabs the worlds attention and holds it and the footage or reports of everyday tragedies are viewed and shrugged aside?

.
Why is it that we set aside time and media exposure to keep alive the memory of sep 11 and the wars though out our modern history .?

Mythology from long dead civilisations speak of cataclysmic events which may have ended whole civilisations. The great flood of the bible records the death and rebirth of the planet . Is it possible that through a need to re-establish the world and humanities place in it after such events that we have built a world which has a survivalist segregated mentality rather then a united worldly mentality.

Has history buried the facts which support a view that if people lived in the world consciously and made decisions daily which took into regard the whole instead of the few that the world as we know it would be a very different place. Who would want to fight over resources ,ideologies or politics when you can live a life of sharing , support, and connection with being alive in the world.

When we embrace the notion that life is unpredictably finite it frees us to feel alive.

The shadow which modern society denies cannot be held indefinitely, the energy cannot be contained, it finds a way to vent through actions such as terrorism and war. For the world to live peacefully we must as individuals come to terms with our connection with our own mortality ,respect each others right to live and die equally and value the world as an aspect of our own creator being . If we do this then the system under which the world is currently organised, which condones war and the destruction of the earth will change.

First we as individuals must change our perception of our importance, release our survival conditioning and instead be co creators of our world.

This is the gift which comes from the tragedy of sep 11. the symptoms which created the event ,hatred, ideology, greed and intolerance can be seen through . We have the opportunity to learn a new way of being in the world . We do not need to survive in the world we need to co create the world the way we would like it to be .
