The S.A.T. should NOT be abolished for college admissions decisions. It should however be taken with a grain of salt.
The S.A.T. is many times an accurate assessment of a student's potential in a college environment. Yet there are many other things to be taken into consideration such as talents, school GPA, volunteering, attitude, hobbies and the most important who they are as a person and what they will bring to the college.
The S.A.T. is a helpful factor in deciding some things but it is not the sole factor in college admissions. It should be used for college admissions to make sure students are within a certain range to succeed in the college but obviously some people do not do well on standardized tests and their are other things that they consider when looking for students. Because it is not the sole factor, it should be kept. It does a good job of being just another thing that colleges can look at to help them determine. It is simply another thing for colleges to look at, to help them.
