How to extend your wardrobe on your own

Extending your wardrobe doesn't mean compulsive buying. You should use your common sense when choosing clothes rather than exceed your credit card limits. The fact is, women who behave like they were addicted to shopping have very often much bigger problems with pulling off the outfit than those who choose their wardrobe wisely.

1.) Assess your style

You should begin reorganizing and extending your wardrobe by deciding on your dressing style, which should match personality and lifestyle. Are you romantic, a fashion diva, an urban chick, a bit traditional and conservative or maybe you like when others see you as an extravagant extrovert? Do you work in the office or maybe you are a freelance make-up artist? What you are and what you do plays a very important role here. Your style will determine what clothes and accessories you will later purchase. Spontaneous buying may be fun, but when the shopping madness is gone, you'll realize that all the unnecessary pieces do not extend your wardrobe at all but only make it a mess.

2.) Decide on your base

After you're done with styling, it's time to choose clothes, items and footwear that will constitute your wardrobe's foundation. Set aside two or three lingerie sets that never let you down, preferably white, black and a nude one. Your clothing base should consist of a couple of classic tops, basic vests, a cardigan, two pairs of denims, a pair of cotton trousers, one classic skirt and a suit. These should be pieces of clothing that can go together with everything, nothing outstanding. The same advice is for bags and shoes. When it comes to jewelry, a pair of modest earrings, a silver bracelet and a good watch is definitely enough. Now, this is your base that should rescue you every time when you have this 'I have nothing to wear' day.

3.) Shop wisely

We all love shopping. It is a great way to pass the time or have a bit of a laugh with our friends. But there are many traps when we shop spontaneously and it's very easy to lose control and come back home with bags full of redundant tops and jeans. No matter how relaxed you are about that you will probably feel guilty about having wasted your money. But we can avoid those strings of remorse if we only keep track of our expenses and be able to say enough. Buying one or two pieces at one time, at the same time thinking of a way to combine them with clothes we already have, will help us to build and extend our wardrobe. Common sense will also prevent from getting rid of the things we earlier bought on impulse. Rationality is a solution when you want to shine in a great outfit.
