I believe that Carlos Tevez would not make the same impression at Arsenal (or Manchester United come to that!)as he did at Upton Park. At West Ham Carlos was a big fish in a little pond; he was surrounded largely by 'home grown' players. No superstars as team mates and backed by supporters who love a glamorous player to take to their hearts and hero worship. When he first arrived at the Boleyn ground he was less than fit and playing mediocre football. The supporters saw little glimspes of skill and a certain amount of gritty determination by the young player and instantly took them to their hearts. The club were performing badly and in the supporters eyes Tevez was being underused. Pressure was mounting on Pardew and he was not receiving the support of his players either on or off the pitch. By the time that Curbishley took over, Tevez had regained match fitness but was still seeking that elusive first goal to boost his confidence. Once the first goal arrived many more followed and Tevez went from hero to god status with the West Ham faithful.

He shone like a beacon against mediocre players who had performed above expectations the previous season. As with Manchester United or Arsenal Tevez is now playing with a team of world class players. At West Ham his team mates constantly gave him the ball hoping that he could craft a piece of magic. He is now competing alongside Christian Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney who are less generous in passing. To reach the same levels of success as he enjoyed at West Ham, he will find himself having to create a lot of his own openings and success.
