Still
Written by: Giuseppinna Gomes
My friend from a far,
Still-
Inspired by you.
Solemnly I lay in the night.
With only the light of the moon bringing me insight.
I'm aroused by your empty presence.
I take a few steps into complete solitude,
There I visualize the faces of many and you.
Some of days past,
Others are new.
Some of distant memory,
Then there is you.
It is the faces of ghosts who haunt me.
With a whisper they have asked me to rise.
So I am up,
Awaiting...
No longer still.
"Sleep is inactive,"
My mind races.
My heart does not beat it pounds.
You remind me that there are expectations to be met.
"I speak of those written,
Not set by any-
One.
Just engraved upon a stone."
"What is meant to be,
Is still to come."
With these subconscious thoughts you have lifted me.
Your spirit steers me into such a direction.
I want to pause,
Take a break;
Stalling is nothing new.
Rare is the type of connection I seek and yearn...
To be rejected would be to disappoint you.
A passion so fierce it calls to me in screams demanding my attention.
Running through my veins like a fire that spreads
Rapidly it burns.
"Use that fire, to bring me to life,"
You've mysteriously, conveyed.
"But how,"
I plead with you,
How?
Tears blur my vision,
And I continue-
How?
Your breath,
A subtlety breeze,
Inhaled and held by me.
I close my eyes.
Still-
Tears drip, caressing my face.
I tighten my fist grasping firmly my pen.
It is you, and how,
"How?" I plead.
Through my eyes,
You and I See.
My friend from a far,
Still,
Inspired by you.
They and you,
Have asked me,
To share with all something we may relate to.
A common thread sown among us,
Through heart and hand;
Yet,
Still...
Still we lay.
Without
Sound or direction-
Lack of connection.
Not fully aware.
Still motionless.
Not I,
For you I will.
Afraid I've been-
To pursue a dream.
Then you..
"Still,"
You spoke.
Without rhyme,
Without reason.
How?
I could not comprehend,
Such a glorious disembodied application.
Still,
Your divine extortion propelled me.
While the moon light dissipates,
Dimmed is the night.
Now in candle light illuminating the white.
Paving my path are the voices of so many.
Guiding me through.
In the momentum of the moment I progressed.
My friend from a far,
Still,
Inspired by you.
Sending heart felt gifts
Undying is life and love.
To those who knew I send thank yous.
To those asleep I welcome you;
It is because of you too.
In turn you see it's reciprocity.
In time,
I will have paid my dues,
Naturally.
For now-
Still in the night I've become till marrow.
Retreat if you must.
Good night, I pray.
Visit again, and I will listen.
Even in slumber,
I will awaken;
Still.
