The war on terror: A different enemy, a new reality

In the mid 1980's American Government declared a war on drugs.

Today drugs are as prevalent on the streets of the United States as they were then.

The war was lost.

September 11th, 2001, undoubtedly the worst terrorist attack on American soil in history launched the American government's War On Terror.

Next week marks the the anniversary of that war.

Instead of wiping out terrorist cells in Iraq and Afghanistan the US government has managed to wipe out part of itself, it's soldiers, it's together we stand attitude, and it's credibility around the world.

Just as the government in the 1980's was naive to believe they could overcome the money and the greed and the power of illegal drugs in their society today's government and that of September 11th 2001 was naive in believing it's own power and influence could change a society and a people thousands of years older then theirs.

They brought on war.

Whether or not eliminating terror was ever the real objective we will never know.

But the war has been lost.

It is time to bring your people home.
