If writing is what you love to do I think that you should follow your heart. I would love to be able to stay at home and write full time but sadly, I have a mortgage. If that doesn't get paid, then I would be out on the streets in an instant.
If I was financially set - lets say that I just won the lottery and can retire tomorrow - I would dust off that novel that I have been working on for the last year and get started writing. I would also have the time to start up a blog. If I was financially set I would still write, not in the hopes of churning out the next Harry Potter and becoming a millionaire as I would already be stinking rich but just for the joy of actually being able to say that I am a writer
Right now having a full time job and trying to find time to sit down and write and then there are the days when I have the time but not the creative energy. I can always wait for the day when I am on maternity leave - not in the foreseeable future - but I suppose that I really won't have the time then either.
