MATURE FOR SURE
Who wouldn't want to be mature,
To face the world, sedate and sure,
Professional, not amateur?
Not me! I cannot just endure.
Our lives are simply much too brief
And filled with struggle, pain and grief.
Let's face it, without disbelief:
We all must have comic relief.
Maturity is worth a lot,
Worth sacrificing all we've got,
But here's a little food for thought:
Let's try to sweeten up the pot.
Who says adulthood must be sour,
Dampening each joyful hour,
Exercising veto power
And making youngsters crouch and cower?
You want to be grown-up and wise
In everybody else's eyes?
You say you have to take the prize?
Don't try to overanalyze!
For nothing's worse than a false start,
Although we need to be street-smart.
My mind may grow and fall apart;
I'd rather be a kid at heart.
