EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!
The morning news is no way to start your day unless you enjoy being depressed. Our newspapers, radios and televisions should come with a warning label. WARNING: THE SURGEON GENERAL HAS DETERMINED THAT THE CONTENTS ARE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR PEACE OF MIND.
If you want bad news than go ahead read, listen or watch. You will find that somewhere at least one car bomb was detonated killing innocent bystanders. Somewhere soldiers have been killed defending those who can not defend themselves. A police officer has been killed in the line of duty. A fireman has died rescuing someone from a burning building. Somewhere a man has killed his wife. A wife has killed her husband. A child has died at the hands of a parent. Parents have died at the hands of their child. A child has been kidnapped. A girl has been raped. A child was found bringing a weapon to school. Somewhere in the world hostages have been taken. Somewhere gay bashing' has taken place. A house of worship has been defaced with graffiti. A drive-by shooting has claimed an innocent victim. An elderly person has been mugged and robbed. The bad news goes on and on and on.
If you would rather start your day with good news turn in the Holy Bible to The Gospel According to St. Luke, chapter 2, verses 1-18. The greatest news ever received by mankind is contained in verses 9-11 "And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."
The writing's of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John present to us the greatest love story ever told.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved
John 10:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (Jesus speaking to his disciples.) Luke 23: 34 " Then Jesus said, Father forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Jesus speaking from the cross.)
They tell us of the one who conquered death and the grave. Luke 24: 1-6 "Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen."
They hold the promise of eternity in heaven. John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
They point out the way of salvation, John 14: 5- 6 "Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way; the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
NEWS JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS.
(All scripture taken from the King James Version.)
