I don't think they are a lost generation I think they are a confused generation.
When I was growing up, many, many years ago, life sure seemed to be a lot simpler.
One of the reasons for that I think is because there were very distinct lines drawn between right and wrong. There were few gray areas in my life. Perhaps it is because I had good parents who knew the difference between right and wrong and they would not tolerate wrong behavior under any circumstances, plus my father was not afraid to physically enforce those standards and mom would back him up when he did.
There was none of this using mom against dad to get what you wanted. If one said no the other backed them up. We never knew if they disagreed and we didn't need to know. No meant No.
Today it's hard to tell anymore what is right or wrong. Our society has become so permissive that what's wrong today is right tomorrow. No wonder the youth of today seem lost. They are confused, there are little or no standards to measure themselves against except their parents and if their parents don't step up to the plate where do they look? To our politicians? To the talking heads on television? To our Courts? To their religious leaders? Where do they go? Every so called segment of society you used to look for, for guidance, can't guide anymore because they have no moral values. All of them.
We have to get back to standards. There must be a line drawn in the sand that everyone agrees with. Certain actions and behaviors should not be tolerated, by anyone. We have to reestablish the right and wrong of things. We have to be willing to recognize evil when we see it and address it for what it is. We must give our kids guidance and teach them right is right no matter what the cost is personally to maintain your integrity.
Everyone knows what's right and what's wrong. When it's wrong you know it in your gut. So do something about it.
