It was Frankenstein, but with a new twist. Depp used a lot of body movement and subtle humor to bring this character to life. This character's pain and fears become our fears the more he is drawn into creepy suburbia. He is a child, an innocent, hidden under a monstrous exterior and Depp pulls it off with tremendous sincerity.

4. Ichabod Crane was another character I fell in love with as a child. It was actually the first scary movie I saw that I didn't find scary. At the center of this film was a squeamish, somewhat girly detective that everyone was depending on. He was awkward and yet you liked him, which seems to be the constant appeal of Depp's characters. They're weird, but you're drawn to them. You like them and sometimes you don't even know why.

5. George Young is a very depressing character, one that perhaps you would stay away from if you saw him on the street. His ups and downs send the audience on an emotional roller coaster and slowly you come to understand him. Depp's movements, how he talked, his acting in general portrayed George beyond well.

Chocolat, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, From Hell, Corpse Bride, Secret Window, Benny and Joon, etc. are all films where Depp portrays characters you can understand and eventually come to love. No other actor has given me the type of relationship I have with these characters, which is why I think of Johnny Depp as one of a kind.

I'm looking forward to Sweeney Todd another creepy, but cool Depp film.
