sat on the river bank, staring at the sky,
lost in the dream-world of the countryside,
so peaceful and relaxing, so tranquil,
the twang of the catapult, as fishermen,
fire maggots to tempt the fish nearer...
cool spring breeze rustling the new green leaves,
watching the whiffs of clouds floating by,
dancing through the aura of the seamless blue,
the gentle chatter drifting from the bank,
house side cottages with couples enjoying,
the evening sitting on porches while the world drifts by..
as the afternoon blends into the evening ,
the sun slowly settling down on the horizon,
highlighting the clouds in red and orange,
as the chugging of the narrow-boats meander by..
thoughts of perfection interspersed with dreams,
as the temperature drops as night draws on,
the rustle of coats as those by the bank
wrap up to keep warm in their vigilance of brightly coloured floats, flat caps, balaclavas for the nesh..
the walk home via the country pub, for a swift pint,
making the day an entirety, and wholesome,
the company so apt, saying so much without talking,
the body language, and the looks saying it all,
knowing your partner, your soul mate and your friend..
home for a cuppa and warm by the fire..
to be the vision we all look for, it is insurmountable,
to have such a bond that being with each other,
is all that matters, and is all that is needed,
well one day we may find the dream,
but until then we all keep looking,
and hoping to live just for a short while
in that land of fantasies...
