Living in a country like the United States, it is not uncommon to find very narrow-minded, egotistical people. In many other countries, Americans are known to believe that their own beliefs and methods are superior to all others - and quite naturally. America has practically ruled the world for the past century and we have a lot of the best of the best. But when it comes to education, we are looking at a completely different story.

I come from the state of Alaska, where around half of the population consists of natives who live mostly in harsh, remote environments. Education is not easily accessible there and normal teaching methods are impossible to apply due to the lack of resources and the fact that many have a first language that is not English. However, in well-developed areas of the world, it is easy to go with teaching methods that experts have proved to work and consider superior to others because those methods have been designed for those areas. Though, unfortunately most of the world is not well-developed and even in places that are, each society's educational needs are different - as proved with rural Alaska.
Trying to apply "superior" teaching methods is nothing but a closed-minded idea. The world is constantly, and dramatically changing everyday. In this day and age, with all the new technology and the insight into the human brain and how we perceive and learn, it is nothing but required that we keep an open mind to it all and adapt accordingly.
In order for us to get the most out of education, it will always require us to provide for each society's educational needs - whether its "superior" teaching methods or not.
