Luxembourgese flour dumplings
These dumplings are an old world dish. They are so simple and easy to make and they are also quite filling and tasty. In the 1st and 2nd world war, dishes like this kept families from going hungry. I found that these are also quite good for students who have nothing left but some flour and an egg.
Ingredients- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 egg
- pinch salt
- vinegar (optional)
- Maggi (European seasoning) (optional)
- bacon bits (optional)
Directions- Add flour to mixing bowl. Break egg in middle of flour and add the salt. Slowly add cold water and mix. Batter should be fairly thick.(should glob slowly off spoon, not run off easily) Spoon dumpling mixture into boiling water. Wait a minute until after they float to the top and then remove and drain. Serve with Maggi, vinegar and top with fresh bacon bits.
