My decision to home school came from several years of watching my children struggle with public school. Constantly watching them get pushed through the system wither or not they know the material being taught is heart breaking. Don't get me wrong, my children are smart cookies, but I really don't feel they were getting the attention they needed, with the over crowded classes. Not only that, with all the drugs and gangs moving in, it just wasn't a good situation. With my children being home schooled, they get the attention they need to put their full potential into the assignments. They're not being pressured to try drugs, or be pressured into sex.
They're not being made fun of because they may not have the right clothes. what they are getting is positive reinforcement, and recognition for a job well done. I have had my days when I was so frustrated that I wanted to quit, told myself, forget it. But thanks to a supportive husband, it gets easier. It's not hard to home school, but it does take patience and consistency. You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to do it, there are so many resources out there to use, that are free, or with a very minimal cost. Homeschooling was my big step, and It's worth it 100%
