Dierks Bentleys Long Trip Alone Gets Quite Long and Boring!
Dierks is a likable guy. He has those puppydog eyes and curly hair and he comes across very honest and hardworking regular guy. And yes he loves his dog.
He rised to the stardom with his super sexy "Come A Little Closer" song which got him a tons of female fans. His young career also includes his first hit "What Was I Thinking" and other number 1 "Settle For A Slowdown".
He subscribed this album himself as a U2 meets Waylon Jennings and most of his loyal fans are loving it.
When I'm writing this review album has been on Billboard Top Country Albums list for 13 weeks, he did rise all the way to the top and is currently number 24.
Dierks Bentley seems to be on a tour constantly and this album material works much better on a life stage than in a studio no doubt! He did co-write all the songs and they do reflect his current life well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is my thoughts of each song on the album:
Every Mile A Memory 3:53
This is a solid start. I like the beat and this is very easygoing song. Dierks is not one of the greatest voices out and some of the parts sound quite flat. I like the guitar ending. This did rise to be a number one country song.
Can't Live It Down 3:22
To me this one is quite boring. Nothing original about the melody, violin helps a little but still just a filler song. I hope Dierks can live this one down...
Long Trip Alone 3:43
Very nicely produced slower song. The beginning is great but then the music overpowers Dierks voice. But at least they tried to make this stand out as a title track.
That Don't Make It 4:08
This is the kind of song I'd love to dance on the audience with my plastic cup of beer. Just not really a studio kind of song. Nice beat to it and Dierks does his singing without much wow but still on the note.
Soon As You Can 3:58
Nice storyline but song itself is another filler. I'd can this one as soon as I could!
Trying To Stop Your Leaving 3:38
This is another typical Dierks song. It does flow but as soon as it is done you will forget it. Nothing original in any way.
Hope For Me Yet 2:56
This sounds just like the previous track. Dierks jamming on a studio and trying to get the girl back. Quite disappointing.
The Heaven I'm Headed To 4.29
At least the lyrics get your attention while listening to this one. But still by now I'm starting to wonder if this is the only beat Dierks is able to come up with? All these songs just blend together. Daa daa daa....
Free And Easy (Down The Road I Go) 3:20
At least this one has easy to follow lyric, Down The Road I Go part sounds very catchy. But somehow it flattens toward the end.
Band Of Brothers 3:42
I bet Dierks wrote these songs while riding his tour bus! And frankly the beat goes with your tires rolling on the road. This would work on a stage but sorry Dierks, you and your band of brothers did not get me covered on this album! This just repeats itself.
Prodigal Son's Prayer 2:51
I'm glad this one is little different from the previous tracks. Actually I like it the best from the whole album. Has the old heehaw feel. Clapping in the end is a little stupid ending.
Pros: If you are Dierks fan You already know what you are getting
Cons: Boooooooring at most parts
The Bottom Line:
This album sounds like a long jam session without any outstanding highlights.
