strong within their own personal beliefs, and are strong within their own understanding of nature and the gods/goddesses, are people whom cannot be swayed by monotheistic threats. When clashes like this happen, monotheistic persons tend to react very adversely to those of the alternative lifestyle. The darker meaning, mentioned above in familial discourse, points to this type of discrimination.
In order to live freely, as a member of any religion, one must first accept themselves, then their religion, and then the tenants set forth by the religion. Monotheistic religions believe in one god, one almighty power which controls all aspects of life, death, and the afterlife. There are established rules, subsets of tradition, and methods of prayers, there are things you can, or cannot do. There are limitations and dire consequences if any of them are broken. Monotheistic religions, in my opinion, are detrimental to the spiritual freedom that a person needs. They cause a breakdown, which the previous author stated, but only when they clash with other religions dissimilar to their own. Because mainstream monotheistic religions clash with those who do not believe in the same set, and fail to understand their own argument, the social, familial and personal breakdown happens.
It is not the fault of the alternative religion. It is the fault of the monotheist who vies themselves above all others, and refuses to understand, and then finally, cherish their counterpart in the conversation. It is not to say that many alternative persons do not challenge, at least openly, those of the monotheist, however, in most cases, the alternative person tends to understand the argument far better, as they are speaking with open arms, instead of clenched fists.
Let us remember one main key here: 'Respect life, all aspects and those within it.' Once you can do this, then having a conversation with someone not of your own religion will not be detrimental, instead, it will be productive. If you can show the other that you respect them, that you understand their religion, and that finally, you are strong and steadfast in your own beliefs, then nothing, be it hatred, or prejudice, can sway you from your point.
Social, familial, and personal breakdown are not what comes from alternative earth-based religions. Understanding, love, compassion, awareness and finally, acceptance, are what these alternative religions are all about. They offer far more personal and spiritual rewards, than do, say, monotheistic religions which rule based on fear, instead of love.
