As a Los Angeles native, I found the above reviews to be more or less accurate, except they forget to mention the overwhelming prices at those spas!
I was lucky enough to have visited a new spa in West Hollywood that was refreshingly affordable and actually BETTER than the over-hyped Peninsula and Beverly Hills Hotel. The place is called Voda Spa. Visit it now, because its about to become the biggest thing in Los Angeles.
Some might say the West Hollywood location raises eyebrows, but the place is open to all and tolerates no violations to spa ettiqette. Its an extremely classy, brand new facility spread over 13,000 sqft with TWO Russian and one Finnish Banyas, a Turkish Steam Room, full indoor swimming pool, cold plunge, whirlpool, full time restaurant (very delicious), bar, lounge, 11 massage rooms servicing black caviar and various types of scrubs, along with an array of truly wonderful and unique massage treatments (Like the Russian Bear...) Most amazingly, its open until 12am! To top it off, they also have a VIP room where you can rent out your own room that includes a whirlpool, sauna, lounge area w/Plasma TV, and a separate treatment room for a completely private experience.
Many months were spent finding the right massage therapists and so far, they've had remarkably advantageous comparisons to the Four Seasons and Beverly Hills Hotel spa services, albeit with much lower rates. They've also added a salon with manicure/pedicure, hair, and facial treatments.
This one is the real deal...
