The price range on a massage can vary significantly, from as low as $30 to over $150, depending on a few factors. The biggest factor is time. The next factor is location, and another factor that may come into play is whether the massage is for medical purposes or not.

Time
The shorter the amount of time of the massage, typically the more per minute it costs. Sessions often start around 30 minutes and go upwards from there. Some places will only do 30 and 60 minute sessions and others will do whatever you wish, usually beginning with a start time, such as 15 or 30 minutes. It generally averages out to be about a dollar per minute. Keep in mind that is only an average taken from lower scale pricing to some of the more higher scale pricing.

Location
Depending on where you're getting your massage, the prices will vary. In more upscale areas, the price is more. And the opposite is true for locations that aren't as central. In addition, spas that specialize in facials, baths and massages typically charge more.

Medical Purposes
There are occasions where a doctor can prescribe messages and insurance will cover it. Also, chiropractor offices, physical therapy offices and others may offer massages. Occasionally their prices are cheaper than going to specialty spas.

The best thing is to do your research, and remember the prices will vary depending on how long you want your massage. Keep in mind that some places will have specials, everywhere from spas to chiropractor offices. They may give a discount for the first session up to a certain amount of time. You may also be able to find coupons or ask a spa or certain location if they offer discounts for first-timers.
