Did the Miami Dolphins blunder by passing on Brady Quinn in the 2007 NFL Draft?

The Blunder of the Dolphins wasn't passing on Brady Quinn it was selecting Ted Ginn, Jr. with the ninth pick in the draft.

The Dolphins had a nice shot at a quarterback at the beginning of the second round, where they eventually chose John Beck out of Brigham Young University.

John Beck looks like he could be a great NFL quarterback in the mold of fellow BYU alumnus Steve Young.

Beck could certainly make Dolphin fans forget about their team passing on Brady Quinn, but selecting Ted Ginn, Jr. so high has no excuse.

Ginn would have been a very late first-round pick (25th or later) if not even a second round pick. They wasted an opportunity to move down in the draft a pick up some extra picks or they missed a chance to really pick a game changer.

Ginn will not be a great receiver. he might be a good return man, but their were plenty of good return people in this draft. With the ninth pick the Dolphins could have at least picked the second best receiver in the draft, Dwayne Bowe out of LSU.

Many people will tie the Dolphins ninth pick to them not taking Brady Quinn, but that was not their mistake. Quinn was more of a higher risk, higher reward prospectthan John Beck and the Dolphins knew Quinn would be compared to Dan Marino, which is unfair to any rookie.

The Dolphins essentially took a terrible NFL kick returner because of the hype when arguably the two best kick returners would go in the third round. They were Jacoby Jones out of Lane and Yamon Figurs out of Kansas State.

The Dolphins could have had John Beck plus one of these electrifying kick returners in addition to their ninth pick, which could have been Amobi Okoye, Patrick Willis, Marshawn Lynch, Darrelle Revis or even Dwayne Bowe.

The mistake was not passing on Brady Quinn, the mistake was taking Ted Ginn, Jr.
