Human nature is the one and only reason humans fight, I remember reading Lord of the Flies as a child and how it affected me. In the novel Lord of the Flies all the reasons for why humans fight each other are present. It is remarkable how children who were seemingly highly educated and well brought up, slowly start their decline to the very basic of human emotions in a very short time.
The characters in Lord of the Flies represent the characteristics that are within most humans in some degree or other. The young boys in Lord of the Flies are faced with the unknown, often the unknown is feared and therefore mistrust and power struggles begin amongst individuals.
More often than not, certain individuals have a certain charisma that attracts others who have low self esteem and so groups are formed. The groups we choose to belong to are very indicative of our inner state of soul. The beast that resides in each one is either good or bad and this is the motivating factor. Humans have an innate sense for survival and when pressed to the wall, humans will do anything to preserve their own life.
Human beings at their most base are very narcissistic by nature, it is only when they have understood a higher reason for their life here on earth that they are able to see past their narcissism. Even though in a state of Utopia , human beings will somehow let their blemished nature destroy their peace. Contentment with our condition is often short lived, pride and jealousy surface very quickly.
It is in man's own heart that evil lies and in each man lies the desire to become the Lord of the Flies it is human nature to fight.
