Traveling can be an adventure if you like to explore. You see all kinds of things that you didn't even know existed. You meet people that you never would have met had you not been on the road at the time. I have traveled in several states and I have stayed in plenty of hotels and motels. I also have rented homes as an option over a hotel or motel on several occasions.
While both have their good points and bad I must say renting a home is the best time I have had. When you rent a home you don't feel that you must eat out every night because you have no way of cooking a meal. You don't feel as if you are sharing the bedspread with everybody and their brother. Seriously, how long has it been since they have laundered it? This is truly one of my pet peeves. I understand that it may be hard for them to wash bedspreads every day. However I don't know if the last person to sleep in the bed was clean or had just crawled on top of the bed after their shift at the port-a-potty emptying company.
If you choose a home over a hotel you don't feel as if you must be up at a certain time. We've all had the experience. You're sleeping soundly when you're jarred out of sleep by a noise (turns out to be a knock on the door) and some sort of mumbling that is indiscernible in your state of half sleep. Suddenly the door is pushed open and there you are at your most vulnerable; half naked, hair standing on end, tongue glued to the top of your mouth, and eyes matted together with sleep trying to figure out where you are and who is that person asking you if you're checking out. You want to scream "Get out" but your sanity takes over and you pull the covers over your husband, who sleeps in his birthday suit and calmly say "Come back later". Preferably when you're dressed.
When you rent a vacation home you can always find a parking spot without having to carry your suitcase from the other side of the building to your room. All the while you're wondering what in the world did you bring with you that was so heavy. Did you really have to have so much for a week's vacation? By the time you make all the trips to get everything to your room you're beginning to think about removing the bedspread and taking a nap.
Regardless of which you choose there are pros and cons to each. I just can't think of anything bad about renting a home rather than a hotel room at the present time.
